Stratosphere Development Hangar Construction

Talon Air currently operates a hangar on the Atlantic Aviation Long Island parcel. A related company with common ownership, Stratosphere Development Company, agreed to lease approximately 3.58 acres from Republic Airport for the purposes of constructing a second hangar adjacent to the existing Talon Air hangar.

In June 2008, Stratosphere prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) for their new hangar to be located on the site of the former Davidson Building. The project consists of one 53,999 square foot building including 29,999 square feet of hangar area and 24,000 square feet of support area, and site improvement includes a new parking area to accommodate 139 vehicles.  (See Stratosphere Site Plan)

The EA was made available to the public and The State of New York issued their determination in October 2007. The Federal Aviation Administration approved the environmental document for compliance under NEPA on March 2009 and construction began May 2009. (Click here for Hangar Photo Gallery)
