The Republic Airport Commission is an advisory council to the Commissioner of the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) with respect to the administration and management of the Republic Airport facilities and its surrounding areas. The Commission provides advice on projects to be undertaken at the airport.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission is composed of nine members of the community who are appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the New York Senate.<\/p>\n<p>A designee of the Commissioner of the NYSDOT is also a member. The Commission can advise DOT on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identification of future capital need<\/li>\n<li>Financing future capital needs<\/li>\n<li>Examination of financing means for the economic development of the area around the airport<\/li>\n<li>Identification and implementation of ways of working with the local community<\/li>\n<li>Identification of non-aviation uses and purposes for the airport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Commission within one year of its creation conducted a study on &#8216;Payments in Lieu of Taxes&#8217; (PILOT).&nbsp; Click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.republicairport.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/PILOT_RAC-Report_1.16.86.pdf\">here<\/a> to view the report.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission members are volunteers who represent the areas around Republic Airport. &nbsp;Members shall not receive a salary or other compensation, but shall be reimbursed for their actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their official duties. &nbsp;There have been no expenses, nor are there any expenses anticipated for the upcoming year.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission members are volunteers who represent the areas around Republic Airport.
